NAIDOC Week events funding

Council's NAIDOC Week grant funding for 2023 is closed. Funding will reopen in early 2024.

Council's annual NAIDOC Week grants enable not-for-profit organisations and schools to apply for funds to hold culturally significant projects or events in celebration of NAIDOC Week.

Council’s NAIDOC Week fund was established to increase community awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People’s achievements, culture and heritage. Successful applicants utilise funding to implement a cultural hands-on project or event in the Lake Macquarie LGA.

NAIDOC Week 2023 was held 2-9 July, the theme for 2023 being For Our Elders.

Our elders are cultural knowledge holders, trailblazers, nurturers, advocates, teachers, survivors, leaders, hard workers and our loved ones.

It is their influence and through their learnings that we must ensure that when it comes to future decision making for our people, there is nothing about us - without us.

We pay our respects to the Elders we’ve lost and to those who continue fighting for us across all our Nations and we pay homage to them.
