The Rathmines Theatre is a 300-capacity theatre available for professional and amateur musical, theatre, dance, and cultural groups to host and perform quality stage productions.


  • capacity for up to 300 people (seated capacity 200)
  • 6.5m deep x 9m wide stage (the stage tapers back to 5m wide upstage)
  • ticket office
  • kitchen equipped with an oven, refrigerator, urn and sink with close proximity to the foyer area
  • male and female dressing rooms
  • platform lift to allow people with disability access to the stage
  • auditorium fitted with a hearing loop

About Rathmines Theatre, nawayiba

The word nawayiba means “canoe place” in Awabakal and refers to the scar trees left behind by Aboriginal people making canoes. nawayiba is also the cultural name given to Rathmines Theatre.
