Bareki Road, Eleebana to Valentine shared path

Shared pathway dog and bike (6).jpg
Council’s Cycling Strategy 2021 identified the need for a regional cycleway connecting Valentine to Eleebana, Warners Bay and Speers Point.

Several sections of this regional route have already been constructed, including the popular path stretching from Booragul to Eleebana Lions Park and another path from Toonibal Avenue Eleebana to St John’s Road, Valentine. These two sections are separated by a missing section between the Lions Park and Toonibal Avenue, known as the Bareki Road bends. This section is identified in the Charlestown Development Contributions Plan for funding support.

Project details

The project will identify a route for a safe, easy-to-use shared path facility connecting existing sections of the regional cycleway network between Eleebana and Croudace Bay. The project will also identify how and when the missing link can best be delivered.

Where is the project up to?

We are undertaking an options assessment to determine the feasibility of various shared pathway routes between Eleebana and Croudace Bay.

We are in the early stages of the planning phase for determining a preferred route for the shared path, with design and construction to be completed in future years.

More details will become available as we progress with this project. We will consult widely with the community about this pathway.
