Young Archie Lake Macquarie

The Young Archie runs alongside the Archibald Prize and is a celebration of young Australian talent – inviting artists between the ages of 5 and 18 to submit a portrait of ‘someone who is special to them and plays a significant role in their life’.

Schools and individuals across the Hunter and Central Coast regions were invited to participate and finalists will be on view at MAC yapang as part of the Young Archie Lake Macquarie exhibition from 23 March - 21 May 2023. 

Young Archie Lake Macquarie Winners:

5 - 8 year age category

Winner - Ashley Zhou for her artwork 'My Funny Sister'

Highly commended - Harlow Greive for her artwork 'My Musical Grandma'

9 - 12 year age category

Winner - Darcy Platt for his artwork Jude Walsh, 13

High commended - Cade Cherry for his artwork titled 'My Dad's, Dad's, Dad'

13 - 15 year age category

Winner - Anika Mungakaew for her artwork 'Puzzle Pieces'

Highly commended - Joel Thoma for his artwork 'Stuart'

16 - 18 year age category

Winner - Samara Peterson for her artwork titled 'Expectations'

Highly commended - Hannah Snow for her artwork 'A Gentle Bond'
