The Hunter Region Band Association presents a free day of al fresco family entertainment at the Multi Arts Pavilion (MAP Mima) at Speers Point Park.

Six community-based concert and brass bands perform individual programmes over the course of the day. With music ranging from traditional selections, TV and movie themes, jazz, big band and current popular hits you are certain to hear something to make you tap your feet and maybe even sing along.

Bands participating in this concert are Toronto Brass (Catalina Brass), PCYC Newcastle Junior & Senior Bands, Western Lake Macquarie Concert Band, Wallarah Community Concert Band, Combined Gosford City/Central Coast Brass & Lake Macquarie Winds.

Bands in the Park was started with a focus on sharing music with the broader community and continues to uphold the time-honoured traditions of band music and performance in our region. Something the event has been doing for well over 50 years.  The event has been made possible with the support of a grant from Create NSW (NSW government). In the past, Bands in the Park has been held in the historic settings of the King Edward Park Rotunda, the Newcastle Foreshore Tram Sheds and Speers Point Parks.

Bring a chair or a blanket, pack a picnic basket or you can purchase food and refreshments from the cafe and settle in for a great day of fun, family and music.
