Hire a park

Our parks can provide unique locations and opportunities for community events and private functions. View a full list of Lake Macquarie parks in our Community Directory.

When is a park booking required

Park bookings are essential for private functions with a large number of attendees or for community events with special requirements such as professional catering, amusement rides, or structures (for example jumping castles or marquees). These events could include weddings, family reunions, parties, company picnics, fundraising events, sporting events, markets, carnivals or circuses. Park hire fees are applicable. Please read the terms and conditions for hiring a park before making a booking.

Smaller events do not require bookings if you're happy to find available space on arrival. In this instance, you won't have vehicle access to the space or access to power. You cannot erect any amusement devices or marquees larger than 3m x 3m without a booking.

See our Event Planning Toolkit for more information and tips on how to host a successful event in our City.

How to make a park booking

Contact Customer Service on 02 4921 0333 to check park availability and obtain a booking reference number.

Secure an event licence by completing a online application form. Follow the instructions to set up a profile. You will need the booking reference number in order to complete the form.

Once this form is submitted, a Council Officer will receive your request and assess your requirements before issuing an invoice for payment.

A bond payment may be required depending on your activity. If successful, an invoice for payment will be issued. If the bond conditions are fulfilled, your bond will be refunded via electronic transfer following the event.

After payment, you will receive a confirmation letter and a map of the park, if required.

Keep your confirmation letter and bring it with you on the day of your event.
