Speers Point to Glendale shared pathway
The proposed route for the Speers Point to Glendale shared pathway
The Speers Point to Glendale shared pathway is part of the Council-adopted Cycling Strategy 2021, which aims to provide a connected, safe and functional bicycle network across Lake Macquarie City. When complete, the shared pathway will link with the Glendale to Wallsend rail trail, which connects Lake Macquarie residents to bike routes that can take them to the John Hunter Hospital and the University of Newcastle.
Council is planning the latest stage of the Speers Point to Glendale shared pathway. This stage of the works will see the completion of a link from Lake Road, Argenton along the former tram corridor to Frederick Street, Glendale where it will join the existing shared pathway.
Construction of the link from Second Street, Boolaroo to the Cockle Creek railway bridge has been complete.
The latest stage of the shared pathway from Argenton to Glendale, is anticipated to be ready for construction by the end of 2018.
