Sustainable Schools Program

The Sustainable Schools Program provides a range of educational resources for teachers, students and school communities to help to make Lake Macquarie schools as sustainable as possible.

The Schools Survey

How sustainable is your school? This survey provides a snapshot of how your school is performing on environmental sustainability issues. The survey will highlight areas that your school is doing well in, opportunities to improve and areas in which Council can best assist to become more sustainable.

Every school that completes the survey receives a $40 voucher to help start their sustainability actions.

The Schools Survey is now open.

School Environment Awards

The annual School Environment Awards showcase and recognise the innovative and inspiring sustainability projects happening at schools all around Lake Macquarie. The Awards Program is designed to support environmental education programs at all levels. By participating in the Awards, your school can share in over $2400 in prize money. No entry form is required – simply complete the School Survey to be eligible for the Awards.

For more information on the Awards, download the program.

Sustainable Schools Workshops

Council Officers can visit your school to deliver workshops to students on a range of topics including waste education, composting, our natural environment, weeds and cycling skills. Apply for a school workshop online. Please note school workshops are for primary and secondary schools only.
