Smart City, Smart Council
Together with the community, Lake Macquarie City Council has laid the foundation for creating a more connected, innovative, prosperous and resilient city, with the adoption of the Innovators Support Roadmap.
The Innovators Support Roadmap seeks to nurture, attract and retain people with inventive, creative ideas and the skills and means to test, grow and deliver those ideas.
One of our priorities as a Council has been to think about how we can use smart city ideas and technology to better connect these widely dispersed communities – both physically and in the digital environment. Example initiatives include creating new spaces for start-ups, increasing access to devices and programs in our libraries to improve digital literacy, supporting local innovation and investing in digital infrastructure.
To our thinking, smart cities aren't only about technology and data – they are about ongoing innovation that gives people the opportunity to participate and enjoy inspired and connected lives and create a prosperous City.
