Activities for over 55s
There's a wide range of activities throughout the Lake Macquarie region which are suitable for older adults. Activities include:
- craft and hobby groups
- gentle exercise groups
- pensioner and senior clubs
- volunteer opportunities.

Over 55s program
The Lake Macquarie Over 55s Program has a focus on health, safety and wellbeing. It consists of information sessions and activities at various locations throughout the City.
The program operates between February and November, annually. All events are free for people aged 55 years and over, bookings are essential online or by calling 02 4921 0333.

|Horticulture therapy||Toronto Library||Thursday 8 November||10-11am||Benefits of participating in horticultural activities include social stimulation, physical activity and promotion of healthy eating habits. The presentation will describe the differences between therapeutic gardens and horticultural therapy while exploring herb and vegetable growing and basic gardening skills.||Call 4921 0641.|
|Falls injury prevention||Morisset Library||Thursday 15 November||2-3pm||This workshop offers practical advice on Falls Prevention and covers topics such as:
• facts about falls;
• why do people fall;
• what can an older person do to avoid a fall;
• what are home, public place and personal hazards that
contribute to falls;
• how do medications contribute to falls;
• osteoporosis vs falls;
• importance of exercise in preventing falls.
