Over 55s program

The Lake Macquarie Over 55s Program has a focus on health, safety and wellbeing. It consists of information sessions and activities at various locations throughout the City.

The program operates between February and November, annually. All events are free for people aged 55 years and over, bookings are essential online or by calling 02 4921 0333.

Butterflies and bushland: The influence of Helena Scott’s work on current Landcare practices Monday 1 10.30-11.30am Swansea Library Helena Scott’s botany work, written in 1862, is a rare document as it is first-hand observed data on plants growing at that time on Ash Island in the Hunter River estuary. Learn how a modern Landcare group, Kooragang Landcare Volunteers, use this information to re-establish areas. The Rover is Lake Mac Libraries’ mobile service, connecting people across Lake Macquarie. The Rover visits retirement villages and areas not serviced by a branch, including Cameron Park, Rathmines and Cooranbong.
