Over 55s program

The Lake Macquarie Over 55s Program has a focus on health, safety and wellbeing. It consists of information sessions and activities at various locations throughout the City.

The program operates between February and November, annually. All events are free for people aged 55 years and over, bookings are essential online or by calling 02 4921 0333.

Supporting someone with an
invisible chronic illness
Belmont Library Friday 17 2-3pm How do you support someone who has symptoms
that you can’t see? They say, “you don’t understand
how I feel” yet you’re being as empathetic and
supportive as you can. In this talk, Wellbeing
transformation specialist, Bev Roberts, shares insights
on chronic illness, how to find solutions and have a
better understanding of providing support. Bev will
draw on her background in business, health and
behaviour change and shares her experience of
chronic illness to help others. Bev is the author of
Hope in a Dark Tunnel.

Moving well Swansea Centre Tuesday 7, 14, 21 and 28 1.30-2.30pm Moving well is dance and music combining falls
prevention exercise into an enjoyable movement class.
Seated, supported or standing, the class will explore
elements of dance whilst keeping the mind and body
active. No dance experience required!

Workshop for supervisors of
young drivers helping learner
drivers become safer drivers
Cardiff Library Wednesday 8 10am-noon This workshop offers practical advice on how to help
learner drivers become safer drivers, and covers
topics such as:
• how to use the Learner Driver Log Book;
• planning driving sessions;
• how to deal with difficulties that may arise during
driving practice; and
• the importance of giving your learner constructive
feedback.
