Over 55s program

The Lake Macquarie Over 55s Program has a focus on health, safety and wellbeing. It consists of information sessions and activities at various locations throughout the City.

The program operates between February and November, annually. All events are free for people aged 55 years and over, bookings are essential online or by calling 02 4921 0333.

Join the Be Connected network and start your tech journey. Learn about the basic functions and settings of your iPad – navigate menu icons and settings, connect to WIFI, download apps and much more. Your iPad must be set up and ready to use. Ensure you know password details for the device and the Apple Store. Bring your own iPad.

Come and touch, trial and see the types of modifications, assistive technology and Allied Health Services available to facilitate independence and living safely in your home. Morning tea will be provided.

History Illuminated 30 August to 5 September  

History Illuminated will feature authors and historians including Peter Fitzsimons, Kate Forsyth, Ed Tonks, Greg and Sylvia Ray, Ben Pobjie and Meg Keneally. With a week of presentations, a history cruise of Lake Macquarie, a writing masterclass and two bus tours, the festival will illuminate the way you see history. Presented by Lake Mac Libraries in partnership with Hunter Writers Centre.

The Rover is Lake Mac Libraries’ mobile service, connecting people across Lake Macquarie. The Rover visits retirement villages and areas not serviced by a branch, including Cameron Park, Rathmines and Cooranbong. You can access a range of library services, including reservations, DVDs & CDs, and a variety of fiction and non-fiction for all ages.
