Do you have a brilliant idea for making Lake Macquarie a little more awesome?
Awesome Lake Mac, an initiative of Lake Macquarie City Council and local not-for-profit Community Activities Lake Macquarie, is seeking people with exciting, community-focused ideas that will benefit the Lake Macquarie community to apply now for grant funding.
Council’s Community Development Officer, Emilie Wiggers, said Awesome Lake Mac provides $1000 cash every month to help community projects and start-ups access funding in Lake Macquarie City, with no strings attached.
“Lake Macquarie is a City full of passionate people, whether they’re community organisations, individuals doing something awesome, innovators, creatives or change makers,” Ms Wiggers said.
“This monthly grant will not only help financially but will provide an opportunity for applicants to make connections with other like-minded individuals and groups in the City.
“Through Awesome Lake Mac, applicants are able to access multiple communities and be promoted to an audience they would not otherwise have reached.”
CALM, Youth Development Officer, Sarah Berry, said it is exciting that Awesome Lake Mac has a Youth focus and encourages applications from anyone from 16 years of age.
“Young people have exciting, innovative ideas – they just need the funds to make them happen,” Ms Berry said.
Each month, Awesome Lake Mac will award one person a $1000 grant, at a pitch event held at Canon, Warners Bay. In 2019, three grant rounds will be held specifically for youth ideas, hearing from young people aged 16-24 years.
Since starting in 2009, Awesome Foundation chapters across the globe – including Australian chapters in Sydney, Melbourne and Newcastle – have given away more than $3 million to support ideas that are, simply, awesome.
