Popular beach kiosk reopens in time for summer
Date posted: 18 December 2018
After a fire ravaged the facility in May 2017, Redhead’s popular beach kiosk will reopen this week following a $470,000 makeover.
Mayor of Lake Macquarie, Councillor Kay Fraser, will officially open the refurbished kiosk at a community celebration on the evening of Friday 21 December.
“It is great to see this popular beachside facility reopen just in time for the busy Christmas-New Year holiday period,” Cr Fraser said.
“Our project team worked closely with Redhead Surf Lifesaving Club, the builders and the new operator to ensure the project was delivered in time for summer.
“We would like to thank the Redhead community for its patience and understanding throughout the construction process.”
Cargo Espresso owners, Murray and Maree Ruse, who have been operating out of a temporary shipping container on-site since the kiosk closed, will serve up a range of takeaway food and coffee from the new facility.
“We’re excited to celebrate the opening of our new permanent home with our loyal customers this Friday afternoon,” Mr Ruse said.
“We have been overwhelmed by the support we have received from the Redhead community since we started operating, and we hope they will continue to support us in the new facility.”
Redhead Surf Lifesaving Club celebrated its 110th anniversary earlier this month.
