Please see below for highlights of the final determinations made at Lake Macquarie City Council’s last Ordinary Council Meeting for 2018.
The full agenda and reports are available at meeting agendas and minutes.
Council was presented with Australia’s Best Community Event at the Australian Event Awards for the 2017 Living Smart Festival and Recognised at the National Inside Waste Awards for the launch of the new Food+Garden=Green Service.
The Living Smart Festival draws a diverse audience who are keen to learn how they can be more sustainable in their day-to-day lives. Surveys conducted at our 2017 event showed 85 per cent of visitors planned to adopt more sustainable living choices after visiting the festival.
Council took out the most outstanding metropolitan local government category at the inaugural Waste and Resources Recovery Awards, for its new, greener 3-bin system introduced earlier this year, its new Awaba composting facility and the recent trial of recycled glass “sand” in civil works projects.
