Council meeting highlights – Monday 3 December

Rathmines: Council determination – Bulk and scale of shed

Council approved DA/2052/2017, to demolish an existing shed and construct a larger shed in its place at 12 Burnage Place, Rathmines.

Morisset: Education establishment increase in students

Council approved DA/1070/2018, for an increase in student numbers from 200 students to 275 students at Heritage College Lake Macquarie, subject to conditions of consent.

Lake Mac Libraries Strategic Business Plan 2019-2024

Council discussed placing the draft Lake Mac Libraries Strategic Business Plan 2019-2024 on exhibition for a minimum of 40 days. The draft Strategy outlines Council’s role to develop, invigorate and promote Lake Mac Libraries for the benefit of the community.

Draft rock fishing legislation

Council discussed opting in to the Rock Fishing Safety Act 2016, which will see areas within Lake Macquarie declared as high-risk rock fishing locations.

Requests for donations and financial assistance under Section 356 of the Local Government Act 1993

Council considered approving financial assistance of $2000 to Lions District 201N3 to support the cost of holding the annual Lions District Conference at Club Macquarie.

West Wallsend (Part 1a George Booth Drive) and Gateshead (Part 20 Carbeen Street): Proposed lease for telecommunications facility

Council discussed granting four consecutive five-year leases over Part 1a George Booth Drive, West Wallsend, and one five year lease over Part 20 Carbeen Street, Gateshead, with the lease areas to be utilised for the installation of telecommunications facilities.
