Morisset PCYC has secured more than $140,000 for insulation and ceiling fans that will improve comfort levels for participants and spectators inside its popular sports centre.
The PCYC was awarded $140,312 from the State Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund.
Club manager Rosmairi Dawson welcomed the funding, saying the centre would no longer be at the mercy of extreme weather, which can vary from two degrees in winter to 45 in summer.
The Mayor of Lake Macquarie, Councillor Kay Fraser, joined Ms Dawson, Superintendent Danny Sullivan, Commander of the Lake Macquarie Police District, and Greg Piper, the Member for Lake Macquarie, at the funding announcement on Friday morning.
“The PCYC does wonderful work with young people in this community and the improvements to the centre will help them continue and expand their sport and activity program," Cr Fraser said.
