Lake Macquarie Farmers Market

Saturday 14 July, 7.30am-1pm

Speers Point Park, Speers Point

This Saturday, come and buy your fresh fruit and veg, flowers, seafood, bread and artisan wares such as jewellery, homewares and clothing at Lake Macquarie Farmers Markets. There will also be hot food, coffee and sweet treats available.

Cooranbong Park

This Sunday at Cooranbong Park the market will feature farmers and market gardeners, various produce such as jams, olives and olive oils, condiments, handmade candles, wooden homewares, children’s clothing and toys.

Food+Garden=Green pop-ups

Rathmines Park, Rathmines

Council staff will out and about all across the City over the coming months to help you as we transition to a greener 3-bin service. Under the new Food+Garden=Green service, all food scraps and garden waste will go into the household green bin, which will be emptied weekly. Come and meet the team to answer any questions you may have on our new 3-bin service!

Gymnastics NSW 2018 Country Championships

12-16 July

Hunter Sports Centre, Glendale

Hunter Sports Centre will once again play host to the Gymnastics NSW Country Championships. Over five jam-packed days of competition, athletes in Acrobatic, Men's Artistic, Rhythmic, Team, Trampoline and Women's Artistic Gymnastics will take to the floor, vying for the title for 2018 Country Champions.

Lake Macquarie Art Gallery, Booragul

The Lake Macquarie City Art Gallery component of the Hunter Red exhibition, a collaboration between the Maitland, Newcastle and Lake Macquarie art galleries and The Lock Up in Newcastle, is well worth a look.

Each of the four galleries has curated an exhibition on the overarching theme of Hunter Red, a nod to the glass of Hunter red as a symbolic tourism characteristic of our region.

Lake Macquarie’s interpretation of this theme manifests as Re(A)d Earth, an exhibition that explores the connection to country in Aboriginal culture.
