In keeping with our core sustainability theme, Living Smart Festival encourages visitors to use public transport or, even better, skip the traffic and ride your bike to the event. If you decide to drive, why not car-pool with friends or family to minimise the number of vehicles on the road? You’ll also help ease demand for the limited number of parking spaces available in and around the event precinct.

A bike valet service, free event bus and shuttle bus to nearby parking are among the options on offer for Saturday’s main Living Smart Festival. See below for details.

Bike valet and maintenance station

Dodge the traffic and arrive in style thanks to our free bike valet service. Our friendly staff will help you park your bike and keep an eye on it while you enjoy the festival. Pop next door to the maintenance station to get free 50-point check-ups on your bike’s safety and performance. Our professional bike mechanics will also carry out basic maintenance and demonstrate easy DIY jobs to keep your two-wheeled transport in tip-top shape.

*Note: The bike valet and maintenance station will only be available on Saturday 28 September. The bike parking station will remain for LSF Sunday Sessions on 29 September, but this will be unstaffed.

Park and ride

If you’re not up to riding all the way to Living Smart Festival, why not dodge traffic close to the event precinct, park nearby and cycle the rest of the way? Options include:

Free event bus

Newcastle Transport will operate two free event buses for Living Smart Festival on Saturday 28 September. The first will run from Lyall Peacock Oval on Cook Street, Toronto, taking passengers directly to Speers Point Park. The second will run from Croudace Bay Dog Park on Bareki Road, Croudace Bay, also taking passengers express to Speers Point Park. Return buses will also be provided. See below for timetable information.

*Note: This service will not operate on Sunday 29 September.

*Note: This service will not operate on Sunday 29 September.

Car parking

Limited public car parking spaces will be available at Speers Point Park for the event weekend. Please note, demand for these spaces is high, and traffic delays entering and exiting the event precinct can be lengthy. Visitors driving to Living Smart Festival are encouraged to park at and near Council’s Depot on Creek Reserve Road, and either walk the 1km to the event or catch the free parking shuttle service (see above). Extra parking is also available at Lake Macquarie City Council’s administration building on Main Road, Speers Point, and off Lakeview Street. Both are an approx. 500m walk to the event. Limited parking spaces for stallholders will be available at the south-east corner of the Speers Point Swim Centre car park.
