Streetscape master plans and technical guidelines
Streetscape Master Plans are planning tools that promote high-quality public domains across our City and describe appropriate landscaping and design elements - such as pavements, street furniture, bins, lights and street trees for our town centres.
Once complete, the plans form part of Council's planning controls, fitting in underneath each town centre's Area Plan and the Lake Macquarie Development Control Plan (DCP).
Streetscape Master Plans guide developers and the public as to what types landscaping and design elements should be used in areas covered by the plans.
They ensure a unified approach when undertaking public domain works and are intended to:
- improve the aesthetic appearance of the town centre
- promote the town centre's personality
- improve accessibility and functionality
- provide opportunity for economic growth
- provide a modern, easily maintained public space.
