Rathmines Theatre and Community Hall refurbishment
- Project typeCommunity and sporting facilities
Works are well under way to revitalise Rathmines Community Hall and we are on track for completion in mid-2020.
The refurbishment of the main building and landscaping works are expected to be completed by April. Once complete, we will then start the internal fit-out of the facility including the installation of new audio and visual technology. This is expected to be complete by the end of June.
More information about the official opening will be made available in the coming weeks.
Throughout February there will be increased truck movements in the park, as the contractor transports contaminated soil from the hall site to another location within the park to be capped and contained.
If you are in the area, please be aware of the increased truck movements. The shared pathway may also be temporarily closed at times during these works.
The site presents no safety concerns to the community and is being continually monitored by Council.
We appreciate the community’s patience as we work to deliver this exciting new facility for Rathmines.
The Rathmines Community Hall rejuvenation project will include:
- new fit-out;
- new and upgraded bathrooms;
- green room for performers;
- meeting rooms;
- upgraded audio and visual equipment;
- improved ventilation;
- disabled parking and accessible ramp; and
- improved landscaping.
The revitalisation project will transform the Hall into a multipurpose community, cultural and performing arts centre.
The completed facility will be a flagship performance space for the Westlakes area, suitable for theatrical, dance and musical performances, festivals, pop-up galleries and exhibitions, meetings and events.
The project is proudly funded by the NSW Government in association with Lake Macquarie City Council.
