We are designing an exciting new performance space in Lake Macquarie.

The Multi Arts Place (MAP), at Speers Point Park, is the first of its kind on the East Coast of Australia. A contemporary, agile space, MAP will host national and international contemporary art installations, digital art screenings and audio presentations, live theatre performances, music and more.

This space will become a hub for outdoor activities including markets, theatre and drama productions, concerts and events.

Samantha Bailey’s concept design was one of dozens submitted by students from the University of Newcastle’s School of Architecture and Built Environment in a design competition in 2018.

Council has submitted an application for the proposed facility, which is currently under assessment.

Pending approval, construction is expected to start in late-2020.

MAP is one of a number of complementary cultural projects being developed in the area, including the Creative Lake foreshore art tourism trail and the recently re-opened Museum of Art and Culture, Lake Macquarie.

This project is proudly funded by the NSW Government's Regional Cultural Fund and Council.
