Pioneering conservationist Tim Flannery to feature in free online talk
Published on 26 November 2020
Climate change expert and former Australian of the Year Tim Flannery will share his wisdom and insights in a free online presentation as part of this year’s Living Smart – Beyond 2020 event series.
Professor Flannery will discuss the main themes covered in his new book, The Climate Cure: Solving the Climate Emergency in the era of COVID-19, followed by a live Q&A with participants during the Wednesday 2 December online event.
In his new book, Professor Flannery demands a new approach to tackling climate change, based on Australia’s response to COVID-19.
The series of online talks held as part of Living Smart Festival – Beyond 2020 has already included presentations by New York Times bestseller Sarah Wilson and former Australian Geographic Conservationist of the Year Natalie Isaacs.
Lake Macquarie City Council Sustainability Engagement Coordinator Chris Harle said Flannery’s inclusion was a fitting finale.
“Professor Flannery is recognised across the globe as a pioneer of sustainability and conservation,” she said.
“We are honoured and excited to have him on board for this year’s Living Smart Festival – Beyond 2020 program and look forward to hearing from him on 2 December.”
ABC Newcastle presenter Jenny Marchant will host the free online session, which runs 7.30-8.30pm. Registrations are essential. To book, go to Eventbrite.com.au.
