Planning is underway for a new park and play space at Murrays Beach with two concept plans for the site now out for community consultation. Lake Macquarie City Council is encouraging the Murray’s Beach community to vote for their preferred plan by Wednesday 9 December 2020.

Lake Macquarie Mayor Cr Kay Fraser said Council is excited to be delivering the facilities for local residents in the Murrays Beach area to provide a new space for the community to socialise and connect.

“Community feedback is key to Council’s decision-making process, when it comes to shaping our City,” Cr Fraser said.

“I’d encourage locals to share their feedback about this new park for Murrays Beach so we can deliver the best outcome for this community.”

Option one for the new park proposes two fenced tennis courts, a playground with natural play elements, park furniture, landscaping and footpaths. While option two proposes a double bat ball court (tennis hit wall), half basketball court, playground with natural play elements, park furniture, landscaping and footpaths.

Residents can view the draft concept plan online at shape.lakemac.com.au/murrays-beach-park and provide any comments up until 5pm on Wednesday 9 December 2020.

Council is also holding a drop-in session for local residents at 90 Lake Forest Drive, Murrays Beach on Wednesday 2 December between 4.30-6pm.

Feedback received about the draft concept plan will be incorporated into the detailed design of the new play space. Construction will begin in the 2021-2022 financial year.

The new park, identified in the North Wallarah Peninsula Development Contributions Plan, will be funded by development contributions.
