A draft Transport Management Plan is set to pave the way for people to get to, from and around Charlestown safer and more quickly.

Lake Macquarie City Council Manager Integrated Planning Wesley Hain said feedback was being sought on a range of proposed actions, including expanded transport choices, improved car parking and upgraded pedestrian and cycling infrastructure.

“Charlestown is one of our City’s major economic, retail and residential centres,” Mr Hain said.

“We would like to hear from the community on the draft recommendations within the Plan. These recommendations relate to parking, pedestrian and cycling infrastructure, and public transport.”

“The draft document is based on feedback from community consultation undertaken last year,” He said.

“Council developed Imagine Lake Mac and the Lake Mac Parking Strategy to improve the way transport and parking within our economic centres is managed.”

Mr Hain said the Transport Management Plan would complement our other strategic plans to support future growth and change in the centre.

Transport Management Plans provide more detail than Council’s adopted strategies and inform Council’s works programs.

Other similar Transport Management Plans will be rolled out across Lake Mac, including for Cardiff, Toronto, Warners Bay, Belmont, Morisset, Swansea, Glendale and Mount Hutton in the coming months.
