Bollywood creates Feast For The Senses in Lake Mac

A mouth-watering slice of Bollywood is heading to Lake Macquarie next month for Living Smart Festival’s second annual Feast For The Senses.
Masterchef 2019 finalist Steph De Sousa will present an exclusive dinner under the stars in Speers Point Park for the Friday 27 September evening, with a modern Indian menu front and centre.
The Lake Macquarie cook said the three-course meal would showcase delicious, seasonal ingredients sustainably farmed and locally sourced – in keeping with the festival’s core themes.
She described her menu as “authentic, spicy but not hot, and full of flavour”.
“I fell in love with Indian food when I fell in love with my husband about 18 years ago.”
“Neville is from India and has exposed me to the real Indian food that is very different from a lot of the Indian food we see available in Australia.”
Spectacular live entertainment will include Indian music and dancing, fire-twirling and roaming performers.
Lake Macquarie Mayor Kay Fraser said the inaugural Feast For The Senses was a sold-out success, and this year’s instalment was on track to be even better.
“The atmosphere last year was superb,” Cr Fraser said.
“Watching the sun set over the lake, enjoying an evening of fantastic food and entertainment – this kind of event demonstrates how we can bring our City to life at night.”
Cr Fraser said the night’s entertainment would include traditional Indian music and dancing, as well as more modern performances featuring the colour and fun of Bollywood.
“Tickets are only $50, which includes a three-course meal and all the evening’s entertainment,” Cr Fraser said.
“This is a fantastic price and reflects our desire to make this event accessible to everyone in the community.”
Steph said her menu was “plant-based” – reflecting her everyday goal of using less meat in cooking for health and sustainability reasons.
“Increasing more plant-based foods in your diet can benefit your health, save money and time, and help reduce our impact on the environment,” she said.
Feast For The Senses is an over-18s event, with drinks available for purchase. The evening kicks off at 6pm and will run until approximately 9pm.
Tickets go on sale Friday August 23. Numbers are strictly limited and the event is expected to sell out. Go to trybooking.com/BEPLD to book.
