Council meeting preview: Standing Committee - Monday 12 April 2021

Council’s next meeting will take place on Monday 12 April 2021, with a Standing Committee meeting starting from 6.30pm.

With the easing of COVID restrictions, Councillors, staff and members of the public are able to attend Council meetings in person. Seating is limited and will be available on a first come, first served basis. Those attending Council meetings will be required to record their attendance via the Service NSW QR code. Anyone who is not feeling well is asked to remain at home. Members of the public still have the option to watch the proceedings of Council Meetings live as well as view past meetings.

Lake Macquarie Housing Strategy review: Incorporating disability housing

Council will consider updating the Lake Macquarie Housing Strategy to incorporate information, objectives and actions for housing for people with a disability. The proposed changes are a result of a review of the Strategy regarding housing for people with disability.

Revision of Council’s Customer Charter

Council will consider adopting a revised Customer Charter for Council. The Customer Charter communicates Council’s commitment to its customers and outlines the service they should expect from Council.  

Circular Economy Policy

Council will consider adopting the Circular Economy Policy. The Circular Economy Policy provides a strategic policy direction to support initiatives that demonstrate to businesses and the community that Council is committed to economic growth that minimise finite resource consumption and emissions.  

Statement of Commitment to Young People

Council will consider adopting the Statement of Commitment to Young People. The statement, developed by members of Council’s Youth Advisory Council, has been worded to reflect the priority and place young people have in Council planning and delivery.

Draft Ending Homelessness Plan 2021-2024

Council will consider exhibiting the draft Ending Homelessness Plan 2021-2024 for 28 days. The Plan outlines the three-year strategic direction for Council to support community organisations and government agencies, while delivering on Council’s commitment towards ending homelessness in Lake Macquarie City.

Adoption of draft Crime Prevention Strategy

Council will consider adopting the Lake Macquarie Crime Prevention Strategy 2021-2024. The Strategy provides a three-year strategic direction for the delivery of evidence-based programs and activities to reduce crime and empower the community to increase safety across the City. 

Creative Industry Seed Grant 2021

Council will consider authorising $13,595 in funding towards 16 creative pursuits as part of the Creative Industry Seed Grant 2021.
