NAIDOC Week Grants 2025
Councillors will consider recommending 17 funding applications for a total of $14,500 as part of the 2025 NAIDOC Week grant program.
NAIDOC Week will be held from 6–13 July 2025 and carries the theme 'The Next Generation: Strength, Vision and Legacy', celebrating the strength, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Many events and activities in Lake Macquarie rely on support and contributions from Council, along with other external funding sources.
Review of Local Approvals Policy
Councillors will consider recommending the Local Approvals Policy for public exhibition following a routine review.
The policy provides guidance and requirements for a range of low impact activities such as busking, manufactured homes, footway trading, outdoor dining and mobile vending.
These are outlined in section 28 of the Local Government Act 1993 that businesses and individuals may want to undertake in the city.
The policy aims to make the document easier to understand and manage.
SWITCH 2025 - NSW Public Libraries Association annual conference
Councillors will consider nominating Councillor Madeline Bishop to attend SWITCH 2025, the NSW Public Libraries Association annual conference, to be held in Penrith from 11-14 November 2025.
The conference themes are equality, inclusion and diversity, with sessions covering a broad range of topics relevant to Lake Mac Libraries and the wider community, such as health and wellbeing, lightning talks and a State Library of NSW address.
