Annual Requests for Donations and Financial Assistance
Council approved six requests for annual donations and financial assistance, totalling $10,043.97. The Donations and Financial Assistance program is open all year to requests from not-for-profit groups and organisations with significant local membership or participation, and/or are undertaking a project with significant local benefits.
Lake Macquarie Mayor Cr Kay Fraser said “Each year Council helps a number of groups and organisations with financial assistance to fund community projects and initiatives. This year, it was even more important to continue our funding program in the wake of COVID-19. Six requests have been approved this year, including some wonderful projects from Warners Bay Lions Club, Redhead Community Library and the Swansea Belmont Surf Life Saving Club, to name a few. I’m thrilled that we can provide support to these groups and look forward to seeing their initiatives come to life.”
Proposed Road Closure - Carl Close, Charlestown
Council endorsed the public exhibition for the closure of Carl Close in Charlestown. The proposal to close Carl Close will see the road combined with adjacent Council land and incorporated into the existing park along the Pacific Highway.
Review of Council policies
Council adopted the Control of Open Burning Policy. Several minor changes to the policy have been recommended incorporating comments from the NSW Rural Fire Service.
Council adopted the Biodiversity Planning Policy and Guidelines for (LEP) Rezoning Proposals. Minor amendments are proposed to the Policy and Guidelines to reflect legislative and regulatory changes made by the NSW Government.
