Thank you Belinda
Belinda loves seeing locals enjoying our parks in the great outdoors
A Horticulturalist by trade, Belinda’s love of plants helped turn her passion into a career, starting with Lake Mac Council as Works Assistant and making her way up to Supervisor. “I love looking after our parks and reserves and seeing locals young and old using our outdoor spaces to exercise, celebrate or just relax.”
A typical day involves horticulture work, mowing and picking up litter to keep our parks clean, “I could write a book on some of the things I have found over the years!”. She works on projects across Belmont, Redhead, Whitebridge and Dudley, not bad spots to go to work every day. Belinda and her team look after parks, reserves and gardens as well as the much-loved Fernleigh Track.
She lives in the area and on the weekend joins the rest of us to enjoy Lake Mac’s facilities in the great outdoors, “I take a lot of pride in maintaining the spaces and I want to make sure they are clean, maintained and beautiful.” The most rewarding part of her role is seeing new projects come to life, knowing she’s helped make them happen.
Belinda is part of a team with a can-do attitude, who all take pride in having high standards when taking care of public areas.
She has travelled the world and all around our beautiful country, “I choose to call Lake Macquarie home, we are so lucky to live in such a beautiful city. The people in Lake Mac are always polite and thankful for the work that we do, their feedback is always valued and encourages me to continue to contribute positively to my community.”
