Lake Mac Swim Centres Terms and Conditions - COVID-19

  • Lake Mac Swim Centres standard fees as stated in Lake Macquarie City Council Fees and Charges 2020/2021(PDF, 1MB) will apply from 1 July 2020.
  • Peak period lap swimming must be pre-booked online.
  • Peak period lap swimming sessions that must be pre-booked include the 5am and 6:15am times at Charlestown Swim Centre, Monday to Friday. Bookings for these sessions can now be made online.
  • Peak period lap swimming sessions will be bookable as they are released weekly.
  • All other times at Charlestown and West Wallsend Swim Centres do not need to be pre-booked, however patrons may need to wait for entry during busy periods. Download the lap swimming timetable
  • If the Swim Centre is at capacity, new arrivals will be denied entry until other patrons depart the Swim Centre. Reception staff will take contact details of the swimmer, request the persons wait at their car, or socially distance outside the Swim Centre, until a position becomes available.
  • ALL persons visiting our Swim Centres will be required to provide their full name, mobile number and postcode to reception on arrival. This must be completed by using the QR Code available onsite or by reporting to reception. Refusing to do so will result in refusal of entry.
  • All lap swimming entry fees during peak period are per session.
  • During peak period, bookable lap swimming sessions are 60 minutes in duration; customers will be asked to leave the water after 55 minutes to ensure they exit the swim centre on time. Staff will utilise 15 minutes in between each session to clean.
  • All entry fees outside of peak period are for 1-hour duration, however, patrons may be able to extend their stay where capacity permits, upon request to the Lifeguard on Duty. (Swimmers will be required to exit the water for 15 minutes for cleaning to be undertaken).
  • Payment must be made on arrival at the Swim Centre prior to your session. Payment can be made by card or cash (card is preferable).
  • For 5am and 6:15am lap swimming sessions at Charlestown Swim Centre, Reception will be open 5 minutes prior to sessions to accept payment for peak period swimmers.
  • General entry is restricted to users undertaking general lap swimming (including walking).
  • Limited persons will be allowed per lane based on government regulations.
  • Limited persons will be allowed in all Programs based on government regulations.
  • One parent only per child at the Swim Centre. Essential siblings only.
  • Aqua Fitness classes will be available to the first 20 persons only.
  • Squad coaching will be available with restrictions in place.
  • Multi-visit pass entries will be accepted. (Note: All multi-visit pass expiry dates will be extended by 3 months to reflect the period the pass was not able to be used).
  • Fitness Passport will be accepted from 1st July 2020 for general entry swims.
  • Fitness Passport cannot be used for discounts to Programs (i.e. learn to swim lessons, squads or aqua Fitness classes).
  • Lake Macquarie City Council, Newcastle City Council and Port Stephens Council Corporate Fitness cards can be used for general entry swims.
  • Lake Macquarie Corporate Fitness cards can be used for a discount on all Program offerings.
  • Newcastle City Council Corporate Fitness cards can be used for discounts on squads and learn to swim (not for Aqua Fitness classes).
  • Change rooms, showers and toilet facilities are available for patrons use with restrictions in place.
  • Private Lane Hire booking requests will be considered at the discretion of Swim Centre management due to limited swim resources available.
  • Aquatic Challenger bookings will not be accepted.
  • Limited Kiosk and merchandise items may be available. Please ask at the Kiosk for further information.
  • BBQ and general seating facilities are not available during restrictions.
  • Equipment, such as kickboards and noodles, are not available for loan. Patrons to supply their own equipment (bring your own equipment).
  • Sharing of equipment is not permitted.
  • Social distancing principles are required to be followed at all times. All directions from staff to adhere to social distancing must be followed. Failure to respond to staff directions will result in eviction from the facility.
  • Swim Centre Staff will refuse entry to any patrons that present with symptoms of illness. Symptoms include: coughing, fever, sore throat. If you’re unwell, do not attend the facility.
  • For pre-bookable lap swimming sessions, lane space will be allocated upon arrival. There is no guarantee of pool preference.
  • At the conclusion of a swim, patrons must leave the centre immediately.
  • Programs bookings and general entry are for Charlestown Swim Centre and West Wallsend Swim Centre only.
  • No make-up sessions will be offered if you cannot attend a pre-booked lap swimming session.
  • NSW Companion Card holders will receive free entry when in attendance with the cardholder.

Squad COVID-19 Terms and Conditions

  • Lake Mac Swim Centres offer Swim Squads (still water) and STOMP at West Wallsend and Charlestown Swim Centres
  • Swim Squads include White, Bronze, Silver and Gold squad levels and focus on still water swim coaching.
  • STOMP provides an aquatic fitness program for persons wanting swim training to complement existing activities such as surf sports, triathlon, open water, masters or professional endeavours. Sessions are for 60-90 minutes.
  • A squad coach will be assigned to each squad session catering to individual abilities.
  • Due to COVID-19 restrictions, sessions are limited to a maximum of 20 persons.
  • One parent only is permitted per child at the Swim Centre. Essential siblings only.
  • Bookings are required for all Swim Squad sessions
    - bookings can be made by contacting Charlestown or West Wallsend Swim Centre.
    - The fees are per person, per sessions, paid monthly. The multiple sessions per week rates apply to the same person enrolled in the Squad program
    - Fees are available at Fees and Charges 2020/21(PDF, 1MB)
    - Squad bookings are to be paid upfront in monthly blocks based on the number of sessions booked per week, per the applicable rate, and the number of weeks/sessions in the calendar month.
    - No refunds can be granted for cancellations or failure to attend. Cancellations that provide notice to the Centre before the end of the Squad lesson that the squad member is booked into may receive a make-up session if a vacancy exists within the same calendar month only. Make-ups must be used in the same calendar month as awarded, they cannot be accumulated for use in following months. No make-up session will be provided for cancellations without notice provided to the Swim Centre before the end of the squad lesson that the squad member is booked into. Each month unused make-up sessions will be erased. A make-up session or credit will be provided for sessions cancelled by the Swim Centre due to unforeseen circumstances e.g. weather conditions. Make-up sessions cannot be transferred into credit amounts.
    - An unlimited monthly swim squad session fee is available, participants still need to book into sessions.
  • Bookings are now required for all STOMP Squads and can be made online.
    - Participants are able to pay per visit or purchase a multi-visit fitness pass to receive a discounted entry.
    - Multi-visit fitness passes may be purchased in quantities of 10 or 20. Each quantity purchased is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.

    - Payment must be made on arrival at the Swim Centre prior to your session. Payment can be made my card or cash (card is preferable) No credits will be allowed.
  • Limited swimmers per lane for all squads. Swimmers must maintain safe distance from others in the lane.
  • Program spectators (parents/guardians/siblings) who are spectating only are free, although must adhere to social distancing protocols at all times. Spectator areas will be designated at all Swim Centres. If these are not followed persons will be directed to leave the Swim Centre.
  • Swimmers will be allowed into the facility 5 minutes before their squad.
  • Swimmers must social distance outside the facility until invited into the next session.
  • Swimmers must arrive at the pool prepared to swim.
  • Changeroom, shower and toilet facilities are available for patrons use with restrictions in place.
  • Swimmers immediately report to their assigned lanes and put their belongings in the designated areas.
  • Swimmers are required to leave the facility immediately after they have finished their squad session.
  • Parents must be ready to pick up swimmers as soon as their session finishes.
  • Equipment is not available for loan. Swimmers are to have their own swim bag with equipment each time they attend a squad session. Sharing of equipment is not permitted.
  • Limited kiosk and merchandise items may be available. Please ask at the kiosk for further information.
  • Barbecue and general seating facilities are not available during these restrictions.
