We recognise the passing of a loved one is a difficult time for all involved. However, when someone who is a registered ratepayer passes away, it is important that you inform us as soon possible so our records can be updated appropriately.
Notifying Council when a ratepayer has passed will not change the property ownership details but will ensure that Council records the owner of as being the Estate of the Late for future correspondence. You will need to seek advise from your solicitor in order to change the title particulars of the property once the estate has been settled or contact the NSW Land Registry Services.
When you contact us, please provide the name and address of the person who has died and the assessment number (located on the rate notice). You will also need supporting documentation in the form of a death certificate or a statutory declaration.
