Picking up a lost pet
Lost pets picked up by our Rangers are held at Council’s Works Depot, located at 18-32 Creek Reserve Road, Boolaroo. Owners must pay a registration and/or release fee before they can take their pet home.
If we can’t get in touch with owners, pets picked up by our Rangers will be held overnight before being transported to the RSPCA Hunter Shelter at 8.30am the following day.
What to do if you find a lost or stray animal
If you find a lost dog or cat wearing a collar or tag, please contact its owner first.
If the owner cannot be contacted, contact Council on 4921 0333 and one of our Rangers will come and collect it. Alternatively, you can take the lost cat or dog to your nearest RSPCA shelter.
