Mobile Food Vending

Mobile Food Vending vehicles are any means of transport designed to be moveable from place to place which sell food or drinks.

They include vehicles, trailers, caravans, carts, wagons or similar used for: on-site food preparation (e.g. hamburgers, hot dogs and kebabs): on-step food preparation (e.g. popcorn, fairy floss, coffee and squeezing juices); and the sale of any type of food including packaged food.

Step 1.Assess

If you wish to operate a mobile food vending vehicle in Lake Macquarie, please use this Mobile Food Vending Assessment Tool to determine which approvals you will require.

Step 2.Gather your information

A range of information is require to be submitted with your application, these include:

  • Copy of RMS Vehicle registration
  • Copy of Food safety supervisor certificate
  • Copy of the mobile food vending vehicle, food safety inspection licence, if already issued by another council
  • Copy of registered charity approval if applying for an fee exemption

Step 3.Pay

Fees will be calculated by Council staff and provided to you in writing after we've received your application for Mobile Food Vending.

Step 4.Apply

Once you have gathered your documents, you can apply online for a Mobile Food Vending Licence. You'll need to upload electronic versions of the required documentation in order to complete your application.
