Open data

Open data is data that is freely available for anyone to use without restrictions from copyright or patents.

Council has adopted a Data Sharing Policy which supports the opening of Council Data.

Council provides real-world data online and free of charge to the public through the Federal Government's open data portal, data.gov.au.

Council also provides Smart City Open Data through our interactive Open Data Portal, data.lakemac.com.au On this Portal you can explore and filter data, create graphs and maps and get access to the API.

Sharing open data allows app developers, researchers and the community to access information to help make informed decisions, for scientific research or to include in apps.
