The Multi-Arts Pavilion mima (MAP mima) is a cutting-edge facility where art and innovation come together. MAP mima offers a high-tech 360-degree creative canvas for contemporary art exhibitions that transforms from art space to performance space in minutes.
MAP mima launches with its inaugural exhibition EMERGE. Created by award winning artists PluginHUMAN, EMERGE signals the start of something very special for Lake Macquarie and Speers Point Park. The artists have created digital microscopic imagery of biopolymer sculptures grown from local data and materials. EMERGE invites you to immerse yourself in the beautiful and intricate details of these objects.
Like the beginning of life itself, EMERGE launches MAP mima with a bang, presenting this special audio-visual experience in a building, and location, like no other.
This timed ticket to experience allows visitors 30 minutes to explore inside MAP mima, watch the EMERGE 360-degree video projection artwork, discover the biopolymer objects and engage with the unique architecture of MAP mima. The EMERGE video work runs for approximately 6 minutes.
MAP mima is open from 23 October on Saturdays and Sundays 10am-3pm, and on Fridays 3pm - 8pm from 29 October.
Suitable for all ages. Entry is free however bookings are essential. Please ensure you book for each person in your party, including children, to ensure we can maintain our COVID safe capacity limits. Entry is limited to 30 minutes, but make a day of it and enjoy Harry & Lola's cafe and Speers Point Park before or after your entry.
