Newcastle Music and Art Therapy presents - See Me, Hear Me: Self Portraits by people with diverse identities and life experiences
This exhibition showcases self-portraits by people from all walks of life who are supported at Newcastle Music and Art Therapy. The intention of this exhibition is to provide a space for artists who are often not represented in traditional portraiture to be seen and heard. The artworks provide opportunity for individuals to tell their own stories in their own way, using their creativity, skills, and talents. Some artists have chosen to write statements about their life experiences and their disabilities. Others have chosen for their artwork to communicate all they wish to express.
Our hope is for this exhibition to invite conversations, foster compassion, spark curiosity and- most importantly- celebrate diversity.
This Launchpad Exhibition is part of the Lake Macquaire Dobell Festival in June. For a full list of festival event please visit Lake Macquarie Dobell Festival 2022
