Newcastle and Lake Macquarie Art Society Inc. - Lola Rose Award Exhibition
Rathmines Theatre Boiler Room, June 21st to 27th

Part of the Lake Macquarie 2021 Dobell Festival Exhibition of over 120 paintings members of the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie Art Society (NALMAS) in the Boiler Room behind the Rathmines Theatre.
Demonstrations of the art practices of many of the members of NALMAS. Hands on workshops conducted by NALMAS members for the public at a discounted price to encourage those interested in art to have a go.
The exhibition and the demonstrations are free please come along and immerse yourself in art for a few hours. There will be plenty of exciting artists and art practices to see, and heaps of exciting and original art to purchase. We are also conducting classes for beginner and intermediate level painters. Classes are $25 to book your seat plus a small fee for materials on the day. Bookings for classes are non-refundable.

Monday 21 June -
The opening of the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie Art Society Lola Rose Award Exhibition. All welcome to attend from 10am to 3.30pm. The exhibition will be open for the entire week 9.30am to 3.30pm. In the Boiler Room.
Wednesday 23 June (morning session) -
Class in pastel painting with Susan Eve. Susan was a finalist in the Lake Mac Art Prize. Come along and watch a class in progress with Susan and her advanced pastel students. 10am to 12.30pm.
Wednesday 23 June (afternoon session) -
Plein Air painting with Maria Camilleri (a finalist in the Lake Mac Art Prize), Susanne Gorring and Robyn Harper with members of the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie Art Society. All are welcome to bring their art materials along and join in. 1pm to 3.30pm.
Thursday 24 June (morning session) -
Display and sale of the art of Michelle Strang. Come along and chat with Michelle about her art practice. From 10am
Demonstration of acrylic painting with Sharon O’Hearn 10am to 12.30pm. Come along and talk with Sharon on her fascinating approach to painting.
Demonstration of acrylic painting with Ann-Margaret Mills 10am to 3pm. Ann-Margaret paints beautiful vibrant works.
Class in painting an acrylic landscape with Annie Palmer 10am to 12.30pm. This class is suitable for beginners. $25 to book your place plus $10 for materials on the day. Class for adults.
Thursday 24 June (afternoon session) -
Exhibition of children’s art from local schools. The exhibition will be from Thursday to Sunday
Demonstration of seascape painting with Sandra Winning. Come along and talk with Sandra on how she paints “wet” water. 1pm to 3.30pm.
Demonstration of painting with acrylic inks with Helen Bull. Watch the magic happen! 1pm to 3.30pm.
Class in painting with acrylic inks with Kate Belton 1pm to 3.30pm. This class is suitable for beginners. $25 to book your place plus $15 for materials on the day. Class for adults.
Friday 25 June (morning session) -
Demonstration of watercolour painting with Jenny Elks 9.30am to 12.30pm. Come and see Jenny create wonderful lake scenes in watercolour.
Class creating a journal using mixed media with Janelle Cookson 9.30am to 12.30pm. $25 to book your place plus $10 for materials on the day. This class is suitable for beginners. Class for adults.
Demonstration of watercolour painting with Carol McCrohon and Chris Jacob 9.30am to 12.30 pm.
Demonstration of encaustic painting with Jean Hurley 9.30am to 12.30pm. Come along and have a go at using hot wax to create a painting.
Friday 25 June (afternoon session) -
Class creating a storyboard with wax on paper with Black Crow Walking 1pm to 3.30pm $25 to book your place plus $10 for materials on the day. This class is suitable for beginners. Class for adults.
Class painting a seascape or landscape in watercolour using your own reference photo with Wendy Lesniak. 1pm to 4pm $25 to book your place. This class is suitable for intermediate artists. Please bring your paints, brushes and a ¼ sheet of watercolour paper. Class for adults.
Demonstration with Barbara Steyn and fellow members of the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie Art Society using a variety of art materials. From 1pm to 3.30pm
Demonstration of painting with watercolour with Gay Cheshire. This is a wonderful opportunity to talk with Gay about her watercolour paintings. 1pm to 3.30pm.
Saturday 26 June (morning session) -
11:30am to 1pm Children's Art Awards and School Band Performance
Class creating a painting from an abstract colour background on canvas with Janelle Cookson 9.30am to 12.30pm. $25 to book your place plus $15 for materials on the day. This class is suitable for beginners. Class for adults.
Class on how to use digital photo applications to create digital art to assist you in your art practice with Black Crow Walking. 9.30am to 12pm $25 to book your place. Students will need a smart phone with internet capability.
Display and sale of the art of Chris Jacob. Come along and chat with Chris about her art practice. From 9.30am to 3pm.
Demonstration of painting with acrylic paint with Kathryn DeBoerIpsen 9.30am to 3pm. You will be amazed at the wonderful vibrant works that Kathryn creates.

Demonstration of painting with acrylic and mixed media with Eleanor Anson 9.30am to 3pm. Watch Eleanor create these stunning paintings.
Demonstration of using collage in your paintings with Annie Palmer 9.30am to 12.30pm. Come and see this fascinating art process.
Class with Michelle Strang on painting with acrylics. 9.30pm to 12pm. Class for kids.
Class with Deanne Newland. You will be guided through the different techniques on how to create semi-abstract landscapes, flowers and abstract artworks. What to bring: Apron, a variety of brushes, felt tip pen -Black and a white or coloured posca pen. What is provided: alcohol inks workshop and yupo paper. Class $25 plus $35 for materials on the day. 9.30am to 12.30pm.
Sunday 27 June (afternoon session) -
Demonstration of painting with acrylic and mixed media with Eleanor Anson 9.30am to 3pm.
Class on creating art through doodling with Barbara Steyn. 1.30pm to 3pm. This style of working is huge fun. Class for kids
Class in watercolour painting for beginners with Kaylene Gayner. 1pm to 3.30pm $25 to book your place plus $10 for materials on the day. Don’t miss this opportunity to be introduced to a few of the basics of painting with watercolour. This class is suitable for beginners. Class for adults.

Members of NALMAS will have displays of their own work to discuss with the public. Local schools have been invited to participate in the event and a display of their work will be in the main theatre from Thursday the 24th to Sunday the 27th of June. Awards and certificates will be given by NALMAS.
