Children's Week

This year we're encouraging families to celebrate Children's Week together. You will spot a few installations around Lake Macquarie encouraging you to explore the great outdoors, to share in a story together, to learn about the history and culture of a place and to take the time to practice some mindfulness exercises.

Embark on a story together

The interactive Storywalks at Speers Point promenade and Toronto foreshore offer a fun and exciting activity to do outdoors as a family. Follow the story of Ollie's Treasure written by Lynn Jenkins at Speers Point promenade, and Dugong Magic written by Debora Kelly along Toronto foreshore.

Practice mindfulness

Using the Mindfulness Boards installed at Wangi Wangi Foreshore park, Webb Park, Redhead and Ungala Park, Blacksmiths take the time to slow down. Together as a family practice the mindfulness exercises illustrated on the boards. The exercises are also available to download(PDF, 186KB) so you can practice them in the comfort of your own home.
