Engineering Guidelines and Standard Drawings

Construction Guidelines

To assist developers and contractors in providing quality infrastructure to the Lake Macquarie community, we have adopted the AUS-SPEC series of Specifications. This guideline describes the minimum construction standards to be met for civil engineering infrastructure associated with a variety of project types including subdivisions, buildings, roadways and bridges, drainage, pathways and pavements.

These documents aim to facilitate the efficient processing of engineering submissions and to ensure that infrastructure is designed and constructed to be safe, serviceable and economical to maintain, while meeting community expectations.

Note: Additional Guidelines can be found on the Development Guidelines page and include; Engineering Design Guidelines, Landscape Design Guidelines, SQID Guidelines, Drainage Design Guidelines and Batter and Fencing Guidelines.

We are currently reviewing and updating our AUS-SPEC specifications. The latest version of each guideline will be applicable upon publication.

Standard Drawings

Standard drawings show construction layouts and details of infrastructure assets that are acceptable to Lake Macquarie City Council.

Standard drawings must be referenced (quoting the drawing number and revision version) or physically included in tender and contract documents for work:

  • to be constructed for Council
  • in a development to be contributed to Council
  • on an asset owned by Council.
