Notice of Commencement of Building or Subdivison work

The person having the benefit of a complying development certificate must already have given written notice not less than 2 days prior to all occupiers of each dwelling that is located on a lot that has a boundary within 20 metres of the lot boundary on which the work is to be carried out as per sub-clause 136AB(2) of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2000.

Step 1.Gather your documents

The person having the benefit of a Complying Development Certificate must already have given written notice not less than 2 days prior to all occupiers of each dwelling that is located on a lot that has a boundary within 20 metres of the lot boundary of the lot on which the work is to be carried out as per sub-clause 136AB(2) of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2000.

To apply for a Notice of Commencement of Building or Subdivision work must be accompanied by the following documents:

  • A copy of the Home Building Compensation Insurance, Builder's License or Owner Builders permit
  • Evidence that all conditions of the consent required to be satisfied prior to commencing work have been complied with and provide satisfactory details of how the conditions have been complied with
  • Details of when the work/s are scheduled to commence
  • Evidence of notification of works subject to a complying development certificate in accordance with the above

Step 2. Advise of notice of commencement

Once you have gathered your documents, submit your Notice of Commencement of Building or Subdivision work online. You'll need to upload electronic versions of the required documentation in order to complete your application.
