Child Care Services
Lake Macquarie Family Day Care is an approved education and care service providing high quality care for children from birth to 13 years of age.
Registered educators provide small-group education and care in a home environment on a permanent, part-time, and casual basis. Education and care is also available for evenings, on weekends, outside of school hours, and during school vacation periods.
Lake Macquarie Family Day Care is available for families who reside both inside and outside the local government area.
Educators may reside both within and outside the local government area.
Quality
The Australian Government provides financial support for Lake Macquarie Family Day Care under the Community Support Program. This funding is through the Department of Education Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR).
Lake Macquarie City Council is the approved provider and operates in accordance with the National Quality Framework. (Australian Children Education and Care Quality Authority)
Assessment and Rating is conducted by the Department of Education and Communities. (DEC)
Lake Macquarie Family Day Care is an Exceeding National Quality Standards service.
Services
Located at 37 Main Road, Boolaroo, the Family Day Care Coordination Unit is responsible for the effective management of the service. This includes:
- Selection of educators and monitoring legislative requirements to ensure high quality education and care through home visits and training;
- assisting parents to select a suitable educator for their child;
- assisting parents to claim fee reductions through Child Care Benefit and Child Care Rebate; and
- Providing early childhood advocacy, information and support to educators and families
