Community Plan 2008-2018
Lake Macquarie Community Plan 2008 - 2018
Aspirations of the People of Lake Macquarie
The Lake Macquarie Community Plan 2008-2018 is Council’s response to the aspirations of the people of Lake Macquarie and reflects the community’s needs and priorities. It was developed after an extensive community consultation process, whereby members of the community came together to discuss what they saw as the major priorities for the present and future wellbeing of their community.
What’s in the Plan
The community plan identifies and sets out short, medium, and long-term strategies and objectives.
Major community priorities have been grouped under five key focus areas for action:
- Caring for the Environment
- Caring for our Community
- Sport, Recreation, and Culture
- Transport, Roads, and Drainage
- Urban and Economic Development
Monitoring Progress
Monitoring of Council’s progress in meeting the objectives of the 10 year plan is addressed through reviewing and reporting on the 4 year delivery program (every six months) and 1 year operational plan (annually and every 3 months).
Following the election of a new Council after every four years, the plan will be reviewed and extended so its spans over a 10 year period again. For example, the Lake Macquarie Community Plan will never have an ‘expiry date’, it will continually be ‘updated’.
