Plan Your Development
Council has many tools to help you research, plan, and prepare the necessary applications and documents for your proposed development.
Development Planning
Development Planning is a step-by-step online service that helps you to research the possibility, and the requirements of your development proposal. It tells you what type of application you need to make and will provide you with an application form and customised application requirements.
Property Enquiry
Property Enquiry is a useful tool if you want to find out information about a particular property in the city including:
- property description
- property conditions
- planning zones
- maps, including aerial, bushfire, geotechnical, coastal and acid sulphate soils (where available)
NOTE: Development Planning also provides the same information.
Planning Instruments
Planning documents guide Council when determining proposed development in the city.
You do not need to reference these documents if you are using Council’s Development Planning service. This service links you to all the relevant information relating to your particular circumstances as you progress through your application.
However, if there is something particular you would like to read about, you may browse all planning instruments that apply to the Lake Macquarie local government area.
There are three levels of planning instruments that apply in Lake Macquarie. These are:
- local plans (these include local environmental plans and development control plans)
- regional plans
- state environmental planning policies
