Doing Business With Council

When supplying goods and services to Council there are simple steps to take to ensure doing business with Council is easy.

  1. Obtain the Tender Document (where applicable)
  2. Set up a creditors account
  3. Supply an ABN

Setting Up a Creditors Account

The Accounts section of Council requests a letterhead from the companies or faxes from individuals containing the following information:

  • Company or individuals names
  • ABN if applicable
  • Address
  • Fax
  • Phone numbers
  • Bank details

A ‘Payment by Electronic Funds Transfer Request’ form can be obtained. Lake Macquarie City Council prefer to make payments by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT).

You can contact Council’s General Accounts section by phoning 4921 0396.

Supplying an ABN

The Australian Business Number (ABN) is a single identifier for all business dealings with the tax office and for dealings with other government departments.

In order to claim Input Tax Credits, Council prefers to deal with suppliers that are registered for GST. Businesses dealing with Council must be registered with an ABN.
