Who is responsible for magpie attacks?
  • Magpies are protected native birds and come under the National Parks and Wildlife, a branch of the Department of Environment and Conservation (NSW).
  • National Parks and Wildlife have signs which they will erect advising users of the area of the danger of magpie attack.
  • Council does not erect signs or barricade areas off to the public until the young birds have left the nest.
