Lake Mac champions take on Book Week
Date Posted: 14 August 2012
Lake Macquarie City Library will host special storytimes featuring local champions as part of Book Week 2012.
Book Week starts this Saturday 18 August and runs until Friday 24 August. It is Australia's longest running children's festival and Lake Macquarie City Library will join schools and public libraries from all over Australia to spend a week celebrating books and Australian authors and illustrators.
Lake Macquarie City Library Section Manager, Jo Smith, said this year's theme 'Champions Read' provides a great opportunity to showcase some of our local champions.
"We have plenty of great champions in Lake Macquarie, including our beach lifeguards, who will be our guest readers at our Book Week storytimes," Ms Smith said.
"We will also feature our Delta Society volunteers who, along with their canine companions, champion our BaRK (Building Reading Confidence for Kids) program."
Book Week is an initiative of the Children's Book Council of Australia.
