The author behind the mystery

Fans of local crime mystery author, Barry Maitland, have the opportunity to meet the author of the acclaimed Brock and Kolla series on Monday 13 August at 6pm at Charlestown Library.
Barry is visiting Charlestown Library as touring author of the month for Get Reading!, a program which promotes authors and their books at events around the country with the aim to inspire more Australians to read.
Library Community Programs Coordinator, Joanne Smith, said Lake Macquarie City Library is excited to be part of the Get Reading! campaign.
"This event is a fantastic opportunity for local fans of crime fiction to meet the author in an informal and relaxed atmosphere," Ms Smith said.
"Barry will give an insight into the process of writing the dramatic murder mystery and the inspiration behind the intricate plot full of twists and turns."
Barry Maitland was Professor of Architecture at the University of Newcastle until 2000. He now writes full time, and lives in the Hunter Valley. His first mystery The Marx Sisters was a nominee for the John Creasey Award for Best First Novel and The Malcontenta won the Ned Kelly award for Best Crime Fiction. Chelsea Mansion is his most recent Brock and Kolla mystery.
Get Reading! is an Australian government initiative developed through the Australia Council for the Arts.
