Date Posted: 17 July 2012
Two new exhibitions celebrating Aboriginal culture are currently on display at Lake Macquarie City Art Gallery.
Northern Impressions: a celebration of contemporary printmaking is a touring exhibition from ArtbackNT. Indigenous and non-indigenous artists collaborated with printmakers at Northern Editions Printmaking Studio and Gallery, Charles Darwin University, to create works that display the artists' response to landscape and Aboriginal 'country'.
Stencils Past, Stencils Last revolves around issues of identity and Aboriginal pride after the 'National Apology to the Indigenous People of Australia'. The exhibition includes works from local Aboriginal artists, as well as Australian artists Mini Graff and Jason Wing.
