The 2012 Landcom Lower Hunter Urban Design Awards are now taking nominations and it has become even easier to enter. A new awards website allows entrants to submit their projects online and people to vote for their favourite projects.
Awards Chair, Patrick Quinlan, said the awards have been running for more than 37 years in the Hunter.
"The awards provide a fantastic opportunity to recognise and celebrate the art of creating and shaping our cities and towns," Mr Quinlan said.
"Nominations close on Friday 20 July and for the first time all entries will be considered for a Special Award for Universal Access, which will be given to the project that demonstrates the best disabled access."
Projects can be entered in a number of categories:
- residential dwelling
- multiple dwelling
- small scale commercial
- large scale development
- landscape design
- sustainable development
- heritage
This year's awards are being hosted by the City of Newcastle and winners will be announced at the Gala Presentation Dinner at Merewether Surfhouse on Friday 31 August.
