Chill out at Charlestown Swim Centre this winter
Date Posted: 21 June 2012
Enjoy free pool entry, heated pools, a giant pool float, a free garden workshop, and even free first aid and CPR demonstrations at Charlestown Swim Centre’s annual community day on Saturday 23 June 2012.
Lake Macquarie City Council’s Manager Library Leisure and Cultural Services, Narelle Reichert, said it is the third time the centre has hosted a community day.
“The staff at Charlestown Swim Centre are working hard to create a facility the whole community can enjoy,” Ms Reichert said.
“Free pool entry on the day is a good reason for families to take a dip in the heated water, try out the giant pool float, take advantage of free learn to swim assessments, and experience some first aid demonstrations.”
Council’s Manager Sustainability, Alice Howe, added that a new community garden that has been created in the pool grounds is a great addition to the facilities and worth a visit too.
“Council staff will host a free garden workshop during the community day,” Dr Howe said.
“The new garden is a great little site that demonstrates how people can keep veggie gardens free of pests and attract butterflies into their backyards and gardens.
“Attendees will also have an opportunity to sign up for Lake Macquarie City Council’s Backyard Habitat for Wildlife program.”
The Charlestown Swim Centre Community Day will be on Saturday 23 June from 9am to 4pm at Charlestown Swim Centre, Dickinson Street, Charlestown.
