Climate Change
Our climate is changing as the Earth warms due to the enhanced greenhouse effect. The impacts of climate change include sea-level rise, changes to temperatures and rainfall patterns, and changes to the frequency and intensity of natural disasters.
In 2011 Lake Macquarie City Council was named one of six Climate Change Adaptation Champions from around Australia. The award recognises individuals, groups, communities and organisations that are demonstrating leadership and innovation in adapting to, and preparing for, the impacts of climate change.
